Greg Tegart has had a long career in academia, industry and Government in the areas of research, teaching, administration and providing high level policy advice on science and technology.
After graduating in science in Melbourne, he went to England for post-graduate study and remained there in academic positions for 13 years.
He returned to Australia to BHP in Melbourne to lead its new products research.
He then moved to Canberra as a Member of the Executive of CSIRO and then was appointed Secretary of the Australian Department of Science and Technology and later, Secretary of the Australian Science and Technology Council.
Since retiring from the Australian Public Service he has held academic positions at the University of Canberra, Australian National University and Victoria University.
