Professor Bruce Armstrong is an Emeritus Professor in the University of Sydney and a senior adviser at the Sax Institute, Sydney.
He has held senior positions in State and Commonwealth Governments, including Commissioner of Health in the Health Department of Western Australia and Director of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare; and in the Australian tertiary education sector, including Head of the University of Sydney’s School of Public Health.
For a period he was Deputy Director of the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France.
Professor Armstrong was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1998 for his services to medicine through research in cancer epidemiology.
