Professor Possingham is Director of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Environmental Decisions (CEED) & the National Environment Research Program Environmental Decision Hub (NERP Decisions) .
He holds a variety of additional roles including The Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists (founding member), Chief Editor of Conservation Letters (an international scientific journal), Council of the Australian Academy of Science (recently stepped down), and several Environmental NGO scientific advisory committees.
The Possingham lab developed the most widely used conversation planning software in the world, Marxan which was used to underpin the rezoning of the Great Barrier Reef and is currently used in over 100 countries by over 3000 users to build the worlds marine and terrestrial landscape plans.
Professor Possingham has co-authored over 450 refereed publications and book chapters and holds two Eureka prizes.
