ACOLA Parliamentary Seminar

This seminar is part of a collaboration between the Parliamentary Library and ACOLA to bring Australia’s leading minds from Australia’s Learned Academies and other experts to important topics of interest to Parliament.

Combining blockchain technology with other technologies can add economic value to a range of business sectors such as agricultural supply chains in the wine sector; trusted credentials in the university sector and transferable customer checks in the finance sector. This briefing will explore what the technology is, how it can be applied and what it might mean for Australian industries.

This session was a conversation led by Professor Jason Potts and focus on distributed ledger technologies (DLTs), including blockchain, NFTs and Tokens, and the opportunities, applications and risks for Australia. The discussion builds on discussions within ACOLA’s Agricultural Technologies Horizon Scanning report.

The seminar was held on 8 December 2021 and recorded by the Parliamentary Library.
